How to create high degree of freedom mesh guardrails in RevitIn practical engineering projects, the mesh layout of construction sites is limited by terrain, and the paths are usually curved. Using conventional railing commands for layout is not only complex to operate but also not precise enough, and the modeling efficiency and computational accuracy cannot meet the requirements. In this case, Revit’s adaptive function can be used to solve the problem. The specific method is as follows.
1. Adaptive environment modeling, select the adaptive conventional model for modeling, as shown in the figure.
2. Place a reference point in the project to adapt and modify it; Directed to” The parameter is“ Global (xyz)” Set up a work plane and draw railing columns on this plane. The radius can be parameterized by adding parameters, as shown in the figure.
3. Create another adaptive point and modify it; Directed to” The parameter is“ Global (xyz)” Connect two adaptive points with a reference line while enabling 3D capture, and drag one of the adaptive points with the reference line to follow the movement, as shown in the figure.
4. Set any vertical plane at adaptive point 1 as the work plane and draw a vertical reference line. Use the same method to create a similar reference line at adaptive point 2, as shown in the figure.
5. Take points on two vertical reference lines and connect them to each other with reference lines, and add corresponding parameters for control. Move the adaptive point, and all lines should change simultaneously, as shown in the figure (the column is hidden for easy observation of subsequent operations).
6. Additionally, create a new family based on the fill pattern of metric curtain wall panels, as shown in the figure.
7. Generate surface entities using reference lines, as shown in the figure.
8. Select the created surface for segmentation, adjust the mesh instance properties to rotate the mesh lines by 45 degrees; As shown in the picture.
9. Load the divided mesh into the adaptive family and arrange the four vertices of the curtain wall panel on the four corners of the reference wireframe in sequence, as shown in the figure.
On this basis, use basic stretching or layout to create solid columns and guardrails, and add appropriate parameters to create a high degree of freedom and variable mesh guardrail, as shown in the figure (columns not shown). Click on points 1 and 2 in sequence to generate a mesh guardrail, and use repeated commands to arrange it in batches according to the pre-set route.
Meaning: Adaptive family in【Revit software】Compared to conventional families, adaptive families have certain advantages in certain aspects, such as using adaptive families for construction site fence drawing similar to railings and handrails, which are more flexible.
