With ongoing technological advancements, the use of information technology, mobile devices, smart wearables, and innovative tools during construction is continuously improving, giving rise to smart construction sites.
Building smart construction sites plays a significant role in achieving green construction, driving the adoption of information technology, and enhancing overall social competitiveness.
BIM technology further advances smart construction sites by transforming traditional 2D models into 3D models. This shift marks a change from a reactive approach—”encounter problems, then solve them”—to a proactive approach of “identifying and solving problems” ahead of time. Thus, applying BIM is crucial for the development of smart construction sites.
To promote the scientific and healthy growth of the smart construction and smart construction site industry, the 19th China International Urban Construction Expo and New Smart City Construction Exhibition in 2019 has dedicated a special section to BIM and smart construction sites. This event is approved by the Ministry of Commerce and supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, aiming to support the industrialization and informatization of China’s construction industry.
