How to use walls in Revit to improve work efficiencyWhen adding walls, please follow the following best practices to successfully model and improve work efficiency. When creating exterior walls for multi story buildings, use walls that extend from the lowest level to the highest level. Use multiple walls or stacked walls for material or wall construction changes (wall type).
To flip the direction of the wall between the exterior and interior walls, select the wall and click the blue flip control displayed next to it. The flip control always displays on the side that Revit understands as the exterior wall.
The wall will not automatically attach to other modeling components, such as roofs and ceilings. Must use“ Attach” Tools and; Separation” Tools to clearly attach to walls. Please refer to attaching walls to other elements.
When drawing walls, you can do so by selecting the option on the Options Bar; Offset” Specify a value to set its offset distance from the cursor. You can specify the positioning line based on which to measure the offset.
Wall type properties can be accessed from the Project Browser. In the Project Browser, expand“ Clan” 、 “ Wall” And a wall family, then right-click on the wall type. Click“ Attributes” Accessible“ Type attribute” A dialog box where you can modify wall properties.
If renaming or creating a wall type, indicate the wall function in the name and in the“ Type attribute” Specify“ in the dialog box; Function Type” Attributes (interior walls, exterior walls, foundation walls, retaining walls, eaves slabs, or core shafts).
By default, the top positioning elevation of the partition wall is set to the upper elevation.
You can drag attachments such as doors and windows between two walls.

When placing accessories between bodies of different thicknesses (as shown above), the thickness of the accessories can be adjusted relative to their bodies. Select the accessory and click“ Pick up the main subject;. Select the main body that you want the accessory to adjust its thickness to match. The thickness of the accessory will be adjusted according to the thickness of the selected main body. If the main body is deleted later, the attachments will also be deleted accordingly.
If you select“ on the options bar; Radius” Then connect the endpoints of the two straight walls, and a fillet will be created between these two walls with the specified radius.
To improve performance, please follow these steps:
Avoid over modeling or over constraining building models (and walls) to reduce project size and complexity.
Be cautious when displaying wall layer information in the view. Minimize the level of detail as much as possible.
