BIM Architecture: Capturing Timeless Space and Foundational Design Through the Lens

BIM Architecture | Time Solidifies, Time Never Dies - Space Director/Basic Element Architecture Design under the Camera

Exhibition Hall Panorama

The Rue de Capsin in Paris in 1895 marked a pivotal moment in time and space—the dawn of the film era. Time functions like a moving long lens, projecting a linear narrative that weaves through the past, present, and future. Classic scenes linger in memory as they unfold slowly, while hidden stories await revelation along a concealed timeline. Cinema, much like time itself, holds a magical quality.

This project is situated in Zhongmou County, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, spanning over 2,000 acres. It boasts unique geographical advantages and represents a cultural landmark developed collaboratively by local real estate giant Jianye Real Estate and film powerhouse Huayi Brothers. Together, they aim to stimulate regional growth and cultural development.

Overall Layout Plan

Design Concept:

The designer envisioned the creation of the public space in the exhibition area with a cinematic theme, connecting the entire environment through the symbolic language of time under the lens. This approach crafts a storytelling experience and fosters an IP scene imbued with cultural significance. From a broad perspective, the design analyzes the history of film development and establishes a resonance between people and space through three key phases: classic past, contemporary vibrancy, and future potential. On a more intimate level, it explores the profound spiritual connection between humanity and cinema.

As the legendary mime artist Charlie Chaplin once said, “Time is a great author; it writes the ending to the future.” Only time can truly validate the classics.

Step slowly into the “Silent Praise” section, where the golden age’s iconic movie projector element is abstractly represented as film tape. With a click, the spotlight of an old-fashioned projector illuminates, casting a warm yellow halo across the building facade. This scene feels both distant and intimately familiar. The classic symbols of film are reinterpreted to harmonize with the space’s atmosphere, creating a refined and humanistic charm. At night, LED strips embedded along the edges light up, transforming the film imagery into a flowing visual narrative that invites visitors to dream back to the past.

Silent Praise

Time rewinds, and the sound of sedimentation echoes like the rhythm of a phonograph. Two art installations titled “Youth Phonograph” are connected, creating a dynamic flow of visitors and a visually intertwined experience. As the phonograph gently turns, a halo of breath rises and falls, while Audrey Hepburn’s timeless songs resonate and linger in the air. Iconic film clips come to mind one after another, including Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Youth Phonograph

The “Eternal Time” design draws inspiration from the contemporary film Titanic and is aptly named “Eternal.” The infinite loop of the Möbius strip extends and flows across a boundless three-dimensional space, embodying the concept of time as “eternal years.” Originally an aimless flowing stream, it transforms into a sculptural water curtain through modern technology, with digital graphics and text continuously flashing and spinning within “time,” evoking memories of that glorious moment.

Time is Eternal

The designers approach their work with the same meticulous craftsmanship as sculptors, embracing a spirit of excellence and subtle ingenuity in the pursuit of artistic perfection. Every design line represents a creative cell, each prototype is a technological breakthrough, and every stroke embodies the trials and spirit of humanistic artistry. Together, these elements exude the charm of refined craftsmanship.

More than 120 years later, with film now widespread, this montage of time and space in Orange Garden intertwines contemporary and classic elements to provoke thought and engage the senses. The interaction of visual and auditory components offers visitors a unique experience—from the peaceful nostalgia of the golden age, through the emotionally charged present, and onward to a future filled with ideological expression—each conveying its own distinct aesthetics and emotions.
