Two Alternative Floating Window Layouts in Revit
First, fix the Project Browser panel on the left side. Then, drag another panel, the Properties Panel, with your mouse to the position shown in the image below. When the preview border appears as a folded box below, release the mouse button.
This action creates a folding effect on one side, merging the two windows so that only one panel’s content is displayed at a time. To switch between the panels, simply click to toggle.
Now, let’s explore the second layout: stacking two panels vertically on one side. Again, start by fixing the Project Browser panel on the left. Then drag the Properties Panel to the position shown in the picture. Although this step is similar to the first, pay close attention—when the preview border appears as shown at the top, release the mouse.
At this point, both panels will be docked on the left side and displayed in two stacked rows.
In my personal workflow, I prefer this second layout with two rows per side. It makes it easy to access commands from both panels without taking up extra space. Of course, you can drag panels to positions that suit your own preferences. Just remember: the key to effective dragging is to watch the preview border and mouse position carefully!
