How to Apply Pattern Component Families to Surfaces in Revit: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Apply Pattern Component Families to Surfaces in Revit

To apply pattern components, start by selecting the segmented surfaces within the conceptual design environment. These surfaces should already be segmented or filled with patterns.

Tip: Right-click on the segmented surface and choose from options such as “All”, “Internal”, or “All Boundary Components”. This allows you to switch between filling pattern components on either the surface boundary or inside the surface.

Next, load the desired family of pattern components.

In the Type Selector located in the middle of the interface, select the fill pattern component family. This option is typically listed just below the original tiled shape family.

Once selected, the component will be applied to the surface with the filled pattern.

Note: Loading the fill pattern component may take some time, so please be patient during this process.
