How to Use the Zoom Tool in Revit
Many users may already know that Revit includes a Zoom modification command, but are you familiar with how it works? When modeling, you might need to create a floor outline that is 0.9 times the size of the first-floor outline. The drawing provides the shape and dimensions of the original first-floor outline. So, the first step is to draw the first-floor outline based on the blueprint, then proceed to create the elevations for the other floors.
Next, copy the first-floor outline to the other floors. At this point, you will need to use the Zoom tool. Select the outline you want to scale, then click Zoom in and out.
The software offers two ways to scale elements: graphically or numerically. If you choose to scale graphically, use the Proportion tool and click three times: the first click sets the origin point, and the following two clicks define the scaling vector. In this example, we will use the second method—scaling numerically. Simply enter the scale factor 0.9 in the scale box.
Now, select the graphic contour and click OK to apply the scaling origin.
At this stage, the outline has been scaled to the specified factor of 0.9.
