How to Display All Color Fill Legends in the Current View in Revit
By default, Revit only displays some color fill legends in the current view, not all of them. However, it is possible to show all color fill legends by adjusting certain parameters.
1. Open Revit and create a new project file. Set up different rooms in Elevation 1 and Elevation 2 views, naming them sequentially as Room 1 through Room 5, as illustrated below.
2. Navigate to the Architecture tab, then to the Room and Area panel. Click on the Color Scheme command to create a new color scheme. Set the scheme category to Room and define the color classification by Name, as shown in the image.
3. Next, go to the Annotation tab and select the Color Fill panel. Click on the Color Fill Legend command, choose the appropriate space type and color scheme, then generate and place the color fill legend in the view as demonstrated.
4. To adjust the legend display, select the color fill legend, then go to the Properties panel and click Edit Type. In the Type Properties dialog box that appears, find the parameter with the value “By View” and change it to “All,” as depicted in the screenshot.
5. After this adjustment, all color fill legends will be displayed in the current view, as shown below.
Tips on Using Color Schemes: This guide focuses on room-based color schemes, which are the most common. Color schemes are also essential when designing various spaces, zones, pipes, or ducts in Revit. The main advantage of using color schemes is their ability to visually differentiate between graphic types and functions, allowing for more efficient and organized use.
