How to Generate a Pressure Loss Report in Revit MEP (2019 Feature)
Note: Before generating a pressure loss report, you can adjust the system using the duct sizing and pipe sizing tools within your project. To create the report, start by selecting the systems you want to include, then set up the report details.
When configuring the report, you can specify which fields to include, such as diameter, height, and width. Additionally, you can choose to display extra information like system details and critical paths. The final report can be saved as an HTML or CSV file.
Selecting the Reporting System
You have the flexibility to select the system either before or after initiating the pressure loss report command. For example, you can:
- Select one or more systems directly in the drawing area and click “Report on Air Duct Pressure Loss” or “Pipeline Pressure Loss Report”.
- Choose one or more systems in the System Browser, right-click, and then select “Pressure Loss Report”.
- Navigate to the Analysis tab, then in the Report and Detailed Table panel, select either Duct Pressure Loss Report or Pipeline Pressure Loss Report. In the Pressure Loss Report – System Selector dialog, choose one or more systems.
To narrow down the systems displayed, use the System Type filter.
You can opt to calculate pressure loss for All systems. If the calculation setting is configured to Only Traffic or None, a warning will appear, or those systems might not be listed.
Important: Pressure loss reports cannot be generated for fire protection or gravity piping systems (such as sanitary systems). Also, the system must be fully connected to generate a valid report. Use the System Inspector tool to verify system connectivity before proceeding.
Setting Up the Report
After selecting the systems to include, proceed to set up your report. If you have previously saved a Pressure Loss Report Settings format, you can select it from the list.
Tip: To save your current report settings, configure the options in this dialog box, click Save, enter a format name, and confirm.
Note that duct and pipeline pressure loss reports each have their own report formats, saved in the same location as the default templates.
Select the fields you want to include in the report from the available list.
You can also enable or disable the display of the following items as needed:
- System Information
- Critical Path: Revit calculates the pressure drop for each path and identifies the path with the highest pressure drop as the critical path.
- Detailed information on straight segments divided by section
- Summary of loss factors for pipe fittings and accessories, categorized by profile
- Parallel pump collection information (available only in pipeline pressure loss reports)
If desired, enable the option to automatically open the report after it is generated.
Click Generate to create the report.
In the Save As dialog box, enter a file name, choose the file extension (HTML or CSV), and click Save.
Note: If a specified third-party calculation method is unavailable, the pressure loss value will show as “Not calculated”.
