Generating Pressure Loss Reports Using the New Revit MEP 2019 Feature

How to Generate Pressure Loss Reports Using the New Feature in Revit MEP 2019

Before generating a pressure loss report, make sure to adjust your system using the duct sizing and pipe sizing tools available in your project. To create a report, first select the systems you want to include, then configure the report settings.

During setup, you can specify which fields to include, such as diameter, height, and width. You may also choose to display additional information like system details and critical paths. Reports can be saved as either HTML or CSV files.

Selecting the Reporting System:

You can select the system either before or after starting the command to generate the pressure loss report. For example, you can:

  • Select one or more systems directly in the drawing area, then click “Report on Air Duct Pressure Loss” or “Pipeline Pressure Loss Report”.
  • Choose one or more systems in the System Browser, right-click, and select “Pressure Loss Report”.
  • Navigate to the Analysis tab, then to the Report and Detailed Table panel, and choose either Duct Pressure Loss Report or Pipeline Pressure Loss Report. Use the Pressure Loss Report – System Selector dialog to pick the systems.

To filter the list of systems, use the System Type filter.

You can set the calculation mode to All systems. If you set it to Only Traffic or None, a warning will appear or the system will be excluded from the list. Note that pressure loss reports cannot be generated for fire protection systems or gravity piping systems, such as sanitary systems.

Ensure the system connections are intact before generating a pressure loss report. Use the System Inspector to verify proper connections.

Setting up the Report:

After selecting the systems to include, configure the report settings. If you have previously saved report formats in Pressure Loss Report Settings, you can select one from the list.

Tip: To save your current report format, adjust the settings as desired, click Save, enter a format name, and confirm.

Both duct and pipeline pressure loss reports have their own report formats, which are saved in the same location as the default templates.

Select the fields you want to include in your report from the available list.

Enable or disable the following display options as needed:

  • System Information
  • Critical Path: Revit calculates the pressure drop for each path and identifies the path with the highest pressure drop as the critical path.
  • Detailed information for straight-line segments divided by section
  • Summary of Loss Factors for Pipe Fittings and Accessories, divided by profile
  • Parallel pump collection information (available only in the pipeline pressure loss report)

If desired, enable the option to automatically open the report after it is generated.

Click Generate.

In the Save As dialog box, enter a file name, choose the file extension (HTML or CSV), and click Save.

Note: If a specified third-party calculation method is unavailable, the pressure loss value will display as Not calculated.
