BIM Software Tip: How to Draw Ducts Along Walls Using REVIT
Today, I accidentally discovered a useful REVIT tip for drawing ducts along walls that can save you the trouble of creating a reference plane parallel to the wall.
First, after selecting the duct command, locate the Correct Command option on the modification panel.
Clicking this command allows you to set the Horizontal Offset parameter directly within the panel.
While horizontal and vertical alignment can be adjusted in the duct’s properties panel, the horizontal offset parameter is not available there. By setting this parameter through the modification panel, you can simply pick the centerline of the wall to draw your duct.
This method removes the need to create additional reference planes for positioning, significantly improving your drawing efficiency.
Keep in mind, this technique also applies to air ducts, pipelines, and cable trays.
