BIM Software Tip: Important Considerations When Copying and Pasting Revit Rooms
When copying and pasting rooms from one floor to another in Revit, there’s a crucial detail to keep in mind. Regardless of how you select the rooms—such as choosing all bathrooms on a particular floor from the detailed list—if the current floor plan view is not the original elevation where the rooms were copied from, pasting them onto other floor levels will not work correctly. The rooms will remain attached to their original elevation.
For example, if you want to copy rooms from Floor 1 (F1) to Floor 2 (F2), you must be in the F1 view when performing the cut or copy action. If you are in the F2 view when copying, even if you attempt to paste the rooms onto F2, they will not stay there and will instead revert to their original placement on F1. The functionality depends on the elevation view you are in at the time of copying or cutting.
