Revit: Flattening a 2D Ellipsoid to Create a Three-Axis Shape

BIM Software Tip: How to Flatten a 2D Rotating Ellipsoid in Revit to Create a 3D Shape

Wondering how to convert a rotating two-axis ellipsoid into a three-axis ellipsoid? Use the following method for a straightforward solution:

1. Begin by drawing the three elliptical curves corresponding to the central axes—x, y, and z. For this step, I used AutoCAD to create these ellipses.

2. Next, create equally spaced ellipses along the z-axis based on the three ellipses drawn earlier.

3. Finally, use Revit’s volume selection tool to generate contour lines from these ellipses, completing the 3D shape formation.
