Resolving Connection Gaps Between Revit Beams and Columns

BIM Software Tip: How to Link Gaps Between Revit Beams and Columns

Let’s begin by comparing two groups of beams and columns:

In the second group, it’s clear that gaps exist between the beams and columns—they are not connected. No matter how you adjust the beam endpoints, they won’t join together:

This issue is related to the beams and columns themselves, as well as the materials assigned to influence model behavior. If the beam and column settings are consistent, they will connect properly:

Another approach is to edit the beam parameters. For example, if you notice a fixed gap of 12.7 mm between the beam and column, you can adjust the beam to extend 12.7 mm beyond both the left and right sides of the column, then lock this parameter:

After making these adjustments and reloading the beam into the project, the gaps will no longer appear as before.
