BIM Software Tip: Guidelines for Defining Revit Shortcut Keys
When customizing shortcut keys in Revit, it’s important to follow these rules to ensure proper functionality.
A shortcut key can include up to five unique alphanumeric characters.
Shortcut keys may combine the Ctrl, Shift, and Alt keys with an alphanumeric key. The sequence appears in the “Press the new key” field. For example, pressing Ctrl, Shift, and D will display as Ctrl Shift D.
If the Alt key is part of a shortcut, it must be combined with either the Ctrl and/or Shift keys.
Reserved keys cannot be assigned as shortcuts.
Each tool can have multiple shortcut keys assigned to it.
The same shortcut key can be assigned to multiple tools. When this happens, you can select the desired tool from the status bar after using the shortcut.
