Effective Techniques for Managing Small Screen Elements in Revit Families

BIM Software Tip: How to Handle Small Elements in Revit Families

When creating a family in Revit, especially during the annotation phase, it’s common to encounter the need for very short elements. However, while drawing these small elements, you might see a warning message from the system.

Is this because Revit automatically considers elements with a length of 0.8 units or less as invalid, preventing you from drawing shorter elements? Although direct drawing of such small elements is restricted, there is a simple workaround. First, draw a line segment longer than 0.8 units. Then, select the element and use temporary dimensions to adjust its length to anywhere between 0.1 and 0.8 units (note that lengths smaller than 0.1 are generally not feasible).

This method allows you to achieve the desired small element length despite the system’s limitations.
