How Revit Categorizes Beams by Height and Width

BIM Software Tip: Revit classifies beams based on their height and width.

To categorize beams by their height and width, start by adding two parameters to the family as follows:

Go to Add → Shared Parameters → Example → Select, then click Edit.

Next, choose Create → Select a saved path → New Group → New Parameters. After adding these, define the parameters as Beam height = h and Beam width = b. Finally, load the family into your project.

Step 2: Add a filter and select Liang Gao and Liang Kuan, then set the filtering criteria accordingly.

The resulting classification will appear as illustrated in the image below.
