Creating Openings Within Revit's Internal Building Volume

BIM Software Tip: How to Create Openings in Revit’s Internal Building Volume

1. Click on Volume and Venue > Built-in Volume. A dialog box will appear prompting you to enter a name. Modify the name as needed, then click OK.

2. In the drawing panel, select the rectangle tool under the model section and draw a rectangle, as illustrated below.

3. Select the rectangle, then go to the Create Shape panel and choose Solid Shape from the drop-down list. Switch to a 3D view, where you will see the rectangular volume created.

4. Adjust the height of the rectangular volume as needed. Next, select one face, add an edge, drag the edge forward, and then add a contour to shape the opening.
