BIM Software Tip: How to Prevent Double-Clicking from Opening the Family Window in Revit
When working on projects, some users tend to double-click the left mouse button unintentionally. By default, Revit responds to a double-click by opening the family window, which often forces us to close it immediately to return to the project.
Here’s how you can change this behavior to suit your workflow:
At the start of your project, click on the big R icon located in the upper left corner of the interface.
Once the menu opens, navigate to the second user interface where you will find the double-click options.
In this section, you can customize the double-click action for elements on the facade.
Specifically, there is an option related to family elements that you can enable or disable based on your preference.
Let’s review the setup process step-by-step:
First, click on the R icon in the top left corner of the screen at the beginning of your project.
Next, find the double-click settings in the second user interface that appears.
Finally, adjust the option for double-clicking on family elements as needed to prevent the family window from opening unintentionally.
