BIM Software Tip: Troubleshooting Drawing Issues with Revit Construction Layers
In Revit, system families such as walls, floors, roofs, and ceilings share the same structural construction settings. As a result, their drawing behaviors are governed by similar configurations. Using walls as an example, there are two main approaches to address drawing issues in Revit:
First:
Through visibility or object styles settings, you can configure two types of edges: common edges and non-common edges. Common edges are those shared between two structural layers, while non-common edges refer to the inner and outer edges only. This method simplifies the process by ignoring individual construction layer settings and treating all edges uniformly as common edges. This approach is used less frequently.
Second: Replacing the main layer
This setting is also managed via visibility settings but takes precedence over the common edge configuration.
Here, you can specify the line type, line width, and color for each construction layer individually, allowing for detailed customization of each defined construction layer.
In summary, the construction layer mappings in Revit are controlled primarily through these two settings.
