Effective Methods for Cutting Multi-Sided Walls with Doors and Windows in Revit

BIM Software Tip: How to Cut Multi-Sided Walls with Doors and Windows in Revit

Sometimes, we use multiple overlapping walls to represent complex design intentions. However, doors and windows inserted into these multi-sided walls often fail to cut through the overlapping sections properly. While you can use an opening family or manually edit the wall’s outline to fix this, these methods are time-consuming and inefficient.

Fortunately, Revit offers built-in commands that allow you to achieve this effect more easily through wall connections.

Keep in mind, though, that the clear distance between the walls must be within 153mm (approximately 6 inches) for the connection to work correctly. If the gap exceeds this limit, the walls will not connect properly.
