BIM Software Tip: How to Reinstall or Repair Revit
If you accidentally delete or modify files required by Revit, the software may not function properly. You might encounter error messages when trying to execute commands or locate files. To resolve this issue, you can try reinstalling or repairing Revit. This process utilizes features based on the installation type you initially selected.
Follow these steps:
1. Open the appropriate system utility depending on your Windows version:
(Windows XP) Go to Add or Remove Programs. Select Revit, then click Change/Delete.
(Windows Vista) Open Uninstall or Change a Program. Select Revit, then click Uninstall/Change.
(Windows 7) Also navigate to Uninstall or Change a Program. Select Revit, then click Uninstall/Change.
This will launch the Revit installation wizard in maintenance mode.
2. Next, choose to either repair or reinstall Revit.
On the Choose to repair or reinstall page, select one of the following options and click Next to start the process:
Repair Installation: This option replaces all registry entries from the original Revit installation and restores the program to its default state. Use this if any Revit files are missing or corrupted.
Reinstall: This repairs the registry and reinstalls all files from your initial installation. If the repair option does not resolve your issue, try this option.
3. Once the process completes, on the Repair Completed page, click Finish to exit.
