Tips for Revit Pattern Filling
When working in Revit, filling beams, slabs, walls, and columns is a common task. However, there are two key points to keep in mind during the filling process:
(1) The cross-sectional fill patterns for columns and beams are controlled by the material settings, as illustrated below:
(2) For slabs and walls, the cross-sectional fill pattern depends on the model’s level of detail. The type properties include options for rough fill styles.
If the model’s level of detail is set to coarse, the section fill style is determined by the rough fill pattern, and the material’s section fill pattern will not be applied. Conversely, when the level of detail is medium or fine, the section fill pattern follows the material settings, and the rough fill style is ignored.
Additionally, you might have noticed that Revit’s fill pattern format is the same as AutoCAD’s. Since both are Autodesk products, custom .pat files created for AutoCAD can be imported directly into Revit and used without modification.
