Revit 2019 New Features: MEP System Type Reference
When you select components that are not yet part of a system—such as those with electrical, duct, or pipe connectors—Revit can automatically create the appropriate systems.
If a component in the building model does not belong to any system, the ribbon will display the Create System panel. The specific tools available depend on the component type and its connectors. For families with multiple connectors of the same type, you can right-click a connector to choose which specific connector to connect and create the corresponding system.
Electrical
When selecting components with electrical connectors, the Create System panel will offer one or more tools to create specific electrical systems, including:
- Power
- Switches
- Data
- Telephone
- Fire Alarm
- Nursing Call
- Communication
- Control
- Safety
Air Duct
When selecting components with duct connectors, the Create System panel will display Duct tools that enable you to create specific HVAC systems, such as:
- Supply Air
- Return Air
- Exhaust Air
Pipeline Connectors
Pipeline connectors are suitable for circulation systems, bathroom systems, and fire protection systems.
If you select components with loop pipe connectors, the Create System panel will provide Pipeline tools to create specific loop piping systems, including:
- Supply
- Return
- Others
For components with bathroom (pipe) connectors, the panel will show Pipeline tools for creating bathroom-related systems, such as:
- Sanitary Fixtures
- Household Hot Water
- Household Cold Water
- Others
When selecting components with fire (pipeline) connectors, the Create System panel will display pipeline tools for creating specific fire protection systems, including (from left to right):
