How to Replace Curtain Wall Panels with Doors in Revit
In Revit, there are times when you need to replace curtain wall panels with doors, effectively inserting a door into the curtain wall. Below, we will walk you through the necessary steps to accomplish this.
For instance, consider a curtain wall where you want to add a door. Start by using the curtain wall grid to define the door’s size. You can adjust the grid by adding or deleting line segments to trim it precisely to the desired dimensions.
Next, load the required door family into your project. To do this, select your building file, then the curtain wall file, and finally the door and window panels. Choose the specific door type you want to load.
Once the door family is loaded, select the curtain wall panel where you want to place the door. Press the Tab key to cycle through the panels until the correct one is highlighted. In the properties panel, scroll down to find the loaded door panel options. You can select either a door panel without horizontal bars or with horizontal bars, and then choose to replace the existing curtain wall panel with your door.
This process allows you to swap out curtain wall panels created with the curtain wall grid for doors, as illustrated in the image below.
