Lumion Generates Dynamic Building Growth Animations

Creating Building Growth Animations with Lumion

In certain projects, it may be necessary to create animations that showcase the growth or construction of a building. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use Lumion to create building growth animations based on your existing building models.

1. Open Lumion and import your previously created model, as illustrated in the image.

2. Click on the recording icon located on the right side to enter the recording interface, as shown below.

3. Press the Record button, as demonstrated in the picture.

4. Click on the camera icon, as displayed in the image.

5. Use the camera button to take several photos from different viewpoints. Once done, click OK, as shown in the example.

6. Double-click the created video to enter the editing mode and adjust the animation keyframes accordingly.

7. Switch to editing mode, then select Lamps and Special Objects. From the light source and tool library, choose the Clip Plane tool. Place this tool above the building model, then use the height adjustment handle to drag the plane up and down. As you adjust the plane’s height, the building will gradually become visible, as illustrated.

8. Return to animation mode, add a special effect, and select Advanced Controls under the object settings, as shown in the figure.

9. Click the edit button within the advanced controls to insert specific keyframes for the clipping plane.

10. At the start of the animation timeline, position the clipping plane at the lowest point so the building is hidden. At the end of the video, move the plane to the highest position to reveal the entire building, as demonstrated.

11. Finally, return to animation mode and click Play to preview your animation. This completes the basic process of generating a building growth animation.

Summary: By following these steps, you can effectively use Lumion to create building growth animations, combining them with your models for streamlined post-processing. This technique offers a convenient way to visualize construction progress.
