How to Save Both Individual Families and All Families in a Revit Project Simultaneously
During a project, you may need to reuse families from one project in other projects. Below are two methods for saving families from a project for use elsewhere.
Method 1:
- Within the project, click the Application Menu and select Save As. Then choose Library, followed by Family, as shown in the image.
- In the pop-up Save Family dialog box, select the family you wish to save. You can either save all families or select a specific family from the project and click Save, as illustrated.
Method 2:
- In the project’s Project Browser, locate the Families category. Select a type, such as Column. Right-click on a specific family type (e.g., Rectangular Column) and choose the Save command, as shown.
- In the pop-up Save Family dialog, choose the save location, rename the file if needed, and click Save, as demonstrated.
Note: The above steps save a single family type. To save all family types at once, right-click the Families category itself and select Save.
Summary: By following these methods, you can save families from your project as individual family files, making it easier to reuse them and streamline your modeling process.
