How to Add Flip Controls for Revit Doors and Windows
For those who have placed doors and windows in Revit, you may have noticed that these elements can be flipped left, right, front, and back. These small flip buttons or the spacebar shortcut allow you to easily adjust the orientation of doors and windows. This feature is very user-friendly and helps ensure accurate placement.
When creating a door or window family, Revit usually adds these flip controls automatically, so many users might not have thought much about it. However, if you accidentally delete these flip controls, how can you add them back?
In the Create tab of the family template, you can add flip controls using the following options:
- Single Vertical
- Bidirectional Vertical
- Single Horizontal
- Bidirectional Horizontal
You should add controls based on your specific needs. Typically, door families benefit from bidirectional vertical and bidirectional horizontal controls, while window families usually require only bidirectional vertical controls.
This handy feature is often overlooked. If you ever find yourself struggling because these controls were accidentally deleted, I hope this tip helps you restore them and make your family placements more flexible within your projects.
