How to Connect Ducts to Existing Systems in Revit MEP
In the drawing area, select the mechanical equipment, duct, flexible duct, or duct fitting to which you want to connect the duct.
Right-click the connector you wish to connect to, then choose either Draw Duct or Draw a Placeholder Duct.
Some components have multiple connectors arranged in a stacked layout. When drawing ducts on these stacked connectors, a Select Connector dialog box will appear, allowing you to specify which connector to use.
Drag the other end of the duct to the desired location, then click to set the endpoint.
For double-line ducts, transition pieces, T-tees, and elbows will be automatically added to the duct segments as needed.
Connecting Vertical Ducts from Existing Components
Right-click on the connectors of existing ducts, flexible ducts, duct fittings, air terminals, or mechanical equipment, then select Draw Duct or Draw a Placeholder Duct.
Go to the Modify | Place Duct tab and select Placing Tools (Automatic connection).
Press the spacebar to inherit the size and elevation from the existing components.
Tip: You can choose either Inheriting Elevation or Inheriting Size in the Modify | Place Duct tab’s Placing Tools panel if you want to inherit only elevation or size.
On the Options Bar, specify the offset above or below the starting point, then click Apply and finally Modify.
At this point, a vertical duct segment will be automatically created, extending from the original offset to the newly applied offset. You can then draw a horizontal duct segment to continue the pipeline at the new offset, or click Modify to place only vertical duct segments.
When working with components that have multiple stacked connectors, the Select Connector dialog box will appear again to let you specify the connector to use.
