Solution for Laggy Zooming and Panning in Revit Views
When zooming or panning, one or more views in the Revit model may respond very slowly, and in some cases, the program might even freeze.
Possible Causes:
- The graphics card is outdated or not certified
- Excessive number of reflective objects in the view
- Lights are not grouped, and all lights remain active
- The computer does not meet the minimum system requirements
- The Project Browser or Properties Palette is detached from the main Revit window
- The project is large and consumes significant memory resources
- Use of multiple monitors
- High-resolution settings on large displays
- Pending software updates
- Viewing detailed projects with many elements
- Numerous Revit links, which may be copied within the project
Recommended Solutions:
- Install certified graphics cards and update their drivers
- Group lights by room and keep only the relevant group active in your current view
- Ensure your machine meets at least the minimum system requirements for Revit
- Dock the Project Browser and Properties Palette back into the main Revit window
- Verify that the project size is significantly smaller than your available memory (ideally 20 times smaller)
- Disable the secondary monitor when working in Revit
- Set monitor resolution scaling (DPI) to 100%
- Install all the latest software updates
- Hide unnecessary elements in the view—especially those with complex geometry or large quantities—to improve performance
