How to Align Beams and Columns with Slab Elevation in Revit

How to Make Beams and Columns Follow the Elevation of a Slab in Revit

If you want to create an arc-shaped car ramp with structural columns and beams underneath, how can you ensure that the beams and columns follow the elevation of the ramp?

Follow these steps:

  1. First, draw the curved ramp slab according to the desired elevation.
  2. Next, draw the columns and beams as required.
  3. Select all the columns you have drawn, then go to Modify > Structural Column.
Under the Attach Top/Bottom tab, set the parameters to attach the columns to the floor slab.
Complete this step as shown in the following figure.
  4. Select the beam below and adjust both the Starting Point Attachment Type and Endpoint Attachment Type to Distance.
Set the Starting Point Attachment Distance and Endpoint Attachment Distance to 0.
    That’s it.

The 3D result should look like the image below.

Note: By following this method, you can quickly modify and attach structural elements to the corresponding floor slab, making your modeling process more efficient and streamlined.
