Effective Solutions for Importing CAD Files into Revit

How to Resolve Issues When Importing CAD Files into Revit

During a project, you might encounter prompts when importing CAD drawings into Revit due to the presence of multiple layers in the CAD file. Therefore, it’s essential to organize the drawing before importing it.

1. Open the drawing in your CAD software, make sure all layers are visible, then use the shortcut Ctrl + A to select everything. Next, press X + Space to zoom in on all layers and remove any unnecessary elements, as illustrated below.

2. Navigate to the Application menu, then select Graphic Utility. Use the “**” command to delete unwanted items, as shown in the image.

3. Import the cleaned CAD file into Revit and click Confirm to proceed, as demonstrated in the screenshot.

Summary: By following these steps, you can effectively prevent issues caused by excessive layers in CAD drawings when importing into Revit, making the modeling process smoother and more efficient.
