On November 27, 2015, at the 2nd China Engineering Construction Standardization Summit Forum and the Low Carbon Environmental Protection Benchmark Enterprise and Figure Award Ceremony, Feng Wei, Chairman of Ningbo Taisheng Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Taisheng), responded to reporters’ questions regarding the building exterior wall insulation and decoration industry. He expressed optimism that in 2016, propelled by various policies, China’s building exterior wall insulation and decoration sector held significant potential.
China Construction News: China is currently undergoing energy structure adjustments and reforms, with reducing energy consumption becoming a national priority to conserve resources, protect the environment, and promote sustainable development. As a company engaged in the research and production of building exterior wall insulation and decoration for many years, do you see this national policy as positive news?
Feng Wei: Absolutely, it’s excellent news. China’s building energy-saving and insulation industry faces many challenges, with most buildings consuming high levels of energy. However, the large number of energy-intensive buildings combined with progressively stricter energy consumption standards creates enormous opportunities for professionals in energy-saving. The more building energy efficiency is implemented, the greater the growth potential for energy efficiency enterprises — it’s truly a situation where rising tides lift all boats.
China Construction News: The building insulation industry has long struggled with low-price competition and a blind focus on production volume, leading to unprecedented challenges and a reshuffling of the entire insulation materials market. How is Taisheng responding to these difficulties?
Feng Wei: The reshuffling of the insulation materials industry is certainly challenging, but for Taisheng and its team, it presents an opportunity. First, we have strong confidence in our products. Our concept centers on prefabricated modular industrial production — standardized, industrialized, and mechanically automated assembly line operations. This approach minimizes color inconsistencies, shortens construction time, lowers costs, and avoids many issues associated with on-site construction. Additionally, we operate the country’s largest fully CNC dust-free metal plate color coating production line, featuring leading pre-roll coating equipment and technology in China. Our production speed reaches 16 meters per minute, with an annual output capacity of up to 10 million square meters, ensuring ample production capabilities.
Secondly, I have confidence in our sales team. In early November last year, the company developed a market strategy plan. Each salesperson was assigned their own regional market and signed a sales target responsibility agreement for 2016. Even as the year-end approached, our salespeople continued actively engaging markets nationwide to prepare for this year’s business opportunities.
China Construction News: Taisheng is known for producing TS insulation and decoration integrated panels and TS soft granite and has secured relevant patents. What other achievements has the company made?
Feng Wei: Taisheng has engaged in collaborative research and technical development with institutions such as the China Academy of Building Standards Design and Research and the China Academy of Building Sciences. We have held numerous discussions on new products, technologies, and processes. In 2012, our products were recognized as a “key recommended product for engineering construction” by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Together with the China National Building Standards Design and Research Institute, we edited and published a specialized atlas on building product selection technology titled “TS Thermal Insulation Decoration Integrated Board.”
In 2015, we initiated the compilation of the national soft granite standard jointly with the China National Building Standards Design and Research Institute, becoming the chief editor of the “soft granite” industry standard. Currently, our products have completed promotional certification in provinces such as Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Sichuan, and Beijing. Taisheng also holds the highest number of approved peer promotion projects. Furthermore, we are actively building a national model market, encouraging agents across the country to establish product exhibition halls, standardizing and normalizing promotion efforts to better showcase our products.
China Construction News: What initiatives has Taisheng implemented to reduce its environmental impact?
Feng Wei: Environmental responsibility is at the heart of sustainable development, and I’d like to address this in two parts: externally and internally. Externally, we must take responsibility for society, our communities, and our customers. As a responsible company, we are accountable for ensuring our products do not cause unsustainable harm to society or the environment.
Internally, our employees embrace a sustainable development mindset that includes environmental protection and social welfare responsibilities. By fostering this mindset company-wide, we can better serve our customers and society. Over recent years, we have continuously provided environmental protection and social responsibility training to employees, who in turn influence our agents through their behaviors, jointly promoting the growth of the green building industry.
More importantly, we are a practical environmental action enterprise. Our products meet environmental standards in their applications. For example, our TS soft granite serves as a substitute for natural stone, preventing environmental damage caused by stone mining and avoiding potential radiation risks to human health.
Looking ahead, Taisheng will adhere to the principles of “safety, efficiency, aesthetics, and energy conservation,” continuing to advance green building development. Our goal is to offer consumers healthier, safer, more beautiful, and harmonious homes while fully committing to green, low-carbon, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly initiatives.
