Residential industrialization refers to the construction of residential buildings through industrialized production methods. This approach is a necessary step to upgrade from low-mechanization and extensive production modes. The primary goals are to improve labor productivity in residential construction, enhance the overall quality of residential buildings, reduce costs, and decrease both material and energy consumption.
Originally, the industrialization of residential properties focused on the industrialization of the residential sector itself. However, it should not be confined solely to residential construction. Instead, it should encompass the industrialization of all building properties, including but not limited to residential buildings. The term “Housing Industrialization” may be inaccurate, as it tends to narrow the scope. In reality, “housing” in “housing industrialization” should be interpreted as referring to all types of building products.
The basic requirements for realizing housing industrialization are as follows:
① Adoption of industrialized construction methods;
② Standardization and serialization of most components and parts used in housing.
