How to Use Creating Parts to Annotate Models in Revit
During the modeling process, it is often necessary to label the materials used in the model. But how exactly can you label the materials? Below is a step-by-step method to achieve this.
1. Start by modeling a balcony and then create another component representing the balcony railing foot protection. Add a length parameter to the foot protection. The material layers, from inside out, should include concrete (on-site poured – C30), cement mortar, granite, excavation, and polishing, as illustrated in the image.
2. Next, load the railing foot protection component into your project, as shown in the accompanying image.
3. Select both the balcony railing and foot guard, then adjust their angle as needed. Locate the unlocked 3D view in the toolbar below the operation window, select “Save View,” and enable “Lock View” inside, as depicted in the figure.
4. Select the railing, then click Create Parts in the modification options to open the family within the scene. Select the railing foot guard, find the edit zone in the modification options, and adjust the surface layer thickness as illustrated.
5. Finally, locate the material tags within the annotation options and apply them one by one to the parts, as shown in the image.
Summary: This tutorial not only demonstrates how to label the materials of a model but also teaches how to create parts for future modeling purposes.
