Controlling Layout Components with Technical Parameters in Revit Families
While creating a family in Revit, I encountered a parameter control challenge I hadn’t faced before: how to control layout components based on parameters. This issue might have been solved by others already—after all, China is vast, and countless users operate Revit for work or hobbies. Without further delay, let’s dive in!
1. Within the family template, after setting up size parameters, you need to create a Layout component, which will be converted into a Living Clan. In the family template, the layout can adjust its size individually according to the parameters. However, if two layout components appear, whether you lock them to the reference plane or leave them unconstrained, parameter changes will fail. This is illustrated in the image below:
So, how do we solve this issue? The key lies in leveraging your proficiency with Revit. The solution is to group the layout components, as shown in the following image:
Once you complete this step, copy the grouped layout components and lock them onto the reference plane. Please refer to the GIF below for a demonstration:
