Steps to Uninstall Revit and Autodesk Software Products

There are several methods to uninstall Autodesk software, depending on your needs.

Important: If you want to remove all applications and supporting files related to an Autodesk product, follow the instructions for a complete uninstallation. This is especially useful if you encounter errors during upgrades, if installation stops unexpectedly, or if newly installed products fail to launch.

Using the Autodesk Uninstallation Tool

The Autodesk Uninstallation Tool allows you to uninstall suites, suite products, or other Windows applications that include multiple components and add-ons. Note that this tool is not compatible with all Autodesk products.

Before beginning, make sure to close all running programs and temporarily disable any antivirus software.

To access the tool, go to the Windows Start menu, find the Autodesk folder, and select the Uninstall Tool.

Note: The Uninstall Tool does not remove service packs or locally installed help files.

Uninstalling via Windows Control Panel

For smaller applications, individual components, or service packs, use the Windows Control Panel to uninstall.

First, restart your computer to apply any pending Windows updates.

If you want to preserve existing customizations such as menus or PGP files, be sure to back them up before uninstalling.

Open the Windows Start menu, navigate to Control Panel, then select Uninstall a program to view the list of installed applications.

Note that you cannot uninstall multiple programs simultaneously.

Select each peripheral program or component you wish to remove, then click Uninstall.

It is recommended to uninstall peripheral programs—such as add-ons, enabling programs, and included software packages—before uninstalling the main application. Keep in mind that some peripheral programs, like material libraries, are shared across multiple Autodesk products, so avoid deleting them unless you intend to remove all Autodesk software.

If prompted to restart your computer after uninstalling a product, please do so before returning to the Uninstall section of the Control Panel to remove additional software.
