A Step-by-Step Guide to Using Viewports in CAD Layouts

How to Use CAD Layout Viewports

When creating layout diagrams, floating viewports act as graphic objects within paper space. These viewports can be moved, adjusted, overlapped, or positioned separately according to your needs.

Creating Viewports: Use the View > Viewport > New viewport command to create new floating viewports. You can specify the number and area for each viewport you want to add.

Zooming Viewports: In the Characteristics options panel, select a specific zoom ratio from the Proportion drop-down menu to apply a consistent scale to your viewport.

Rotating Viewports: To rotate the entire view within a floating viewport, execute the MVSETUP command.

Creating Viewports with Special Shapes: Use View > Viewport > Polygon viewport to create floating viewports in polygonal shapes.
