How to Quickly Rotate Plan Views in Revit

Quickly Rotate Plan Views in Revit

Revit Modeling

When viewing a model in plan view, the entire model may appear rotated at an oblique angle relative to the view window. This makes it challenging to quickly model using rectangles. Relying on the slow method of picking individual lines can also hinder your workflow, as illustrated below.

1. In the Properties dialog box, locate the settings range and find the option “Crop Region Visible”. Check this box to display a rectangular crop region in the drawing area, as shown in the figure.

2. Click on the crop region to select it. Then, use the Rotate command found under the Modify menu. Press the spacebar to move and rotate the crop box to the intersection point. Click the left mouse button to confirm whether the rotation line is horizontal or vertical. Next, select the axis grid to rotate, and click the left mouse button again to complete the rotation, as demonstrated in the figure.

3. This will complete the horizontal rotation of both the axis grid and the drawing area, as shown in the figure.

Note: When importing CAD drawings for modeling, it is often necessary to rotate the drawings to align them properly for efficient modeling. This method shows how to rotate CAD drawings within Revit to facilitate better modeling accuracy.
