Creating a Wavy Pointed Roof in Revit
When designing a pavilion roof, the shape is typically generated based on a predefined path. In this guide, we will demonstrate how to use slope arrows to create a wavy pointed roof.
Start by selecting a wall with a thickness of 200mm and drawing a circular wall with a radius of 5000mm. After drawing the wall, select it and enable the Central Editor option in the properties panel. Then, choose a roof with a thickness of 400mm and draw a circular roof centered on the same point, resembling a straw hat, as illustrated below.
1. Next, we’ll explain how to use slope arrows to create the wavy pointed roof. Double-click the roof you just created to enter edit mode.
2. Use the Slope Arrow tool from the drawing tools to sketch the slope, as shown in the image.
3. Draw the slope arrow by clicking on the original boundary line. Then, in the properties panel or options bar, uncheck the Defines Slope option. This step is necessary because the newly drawn slope conflicts with the original slope, so the original slope definition must be canceled, as demonstrated below.
4. Finally, click Finish. The wavy pointed roof will be completed, as shown in the picture.
