The Effective Use of Revit Floor Slab Edges
There are several ways to create stairs outside a studio using Revit:
- Built-in modeling methods: stretching, hollow stretching, and cutting;
- For standard outdoor stairs, simply use the stair command to draw them;
- Cleverly utilize the edges of the floor slab.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating an outdoor staircase by using the edge of a floor slab:
First, draw a floor slab.
Next, select the Floor Edge command.
Go to Edit Type → copy the existing type → rename it as Outdoor Staircase.
In the Outline section, choose a pre-created contour family from the dropdown list — select Outdoor Staircase.
Finally, click on the edge of the floor slab, and the outdoor staircase will be generated automatically.
You can adjust the width of the outdoor staircase by dragging the control points located at both ends.
