Revit project templates serve as a foundation for initiating new projects. These templates include Revit view templates, preloaded Revit families, and predefined settings such as units, fill patterns, line types, line weights, view scales, and more. Project templates may also contain geometry if required.
After installation, Revit offers several templates tailored for different building codes and project types. Additionally, you have the option to create custom templates to suit specific requirements or to ensure compliance with your organization’s standards. Project templates use the RTE file extension.
Using Project Templates
When starting a new project, select the template that best matches the applicable regulations and project goals. If you wish to use a custom template, follow these steps:
- In the “Recently Used Files” window under “Project,” select a template from the short list available.
- To view all project templates, open the “New Project” dialog box. Here, you can access both default and custom templates for Revit.
Prompt
The “Recently Used Files” window displays up to five of the most frequently used project templates, allowing you to quickly access them when initiating a new project.
