How to Create Explosion Analysis Diagrams in Revit
When creating models, clients often require not only the standard four views but also an exploded view diagram showcasing all parts separated, with clear distinctions between individual components. So, how can we achieve this effect in Revit?
1. First, create each part according to the client’s specifications and CAD drawings. Then, import all part families into a single project. Using the assembly relationships from the drawings, combine these parts to form the final model. For example, let’s consider a transformer.
2. Select the component you want to explode. If it’s a standalone component, you can modify it directly via the menu bar. Locate the “Replace Element” option under the top tab. At this stage, the XYZ coordinate system will appear, allowing you to move the component to the desired position. You can also define the corresponding movement path here.
3. For models consisting of multiple parts, first create these as separate parts—essentially disassembling the model family. You can then select individual parts and place them along their respective paths based on their original positional relationships.
4. Continue this process step-by-step for the remaining parts. The final result will be an exploded model that provides a clear view of its structure, spatial relationships, and more.
5. Finally, choose an appropriate angle and render the scene to produce a polished visualization.
