How to Fix the Issue of Connecting Tiger Window Roofs in Revit
When facing difficulties connecting a tiger window roof in Revit, here is my approach to understanding and resolving the problem.
First, create a new footprint roof at a 45° angle. Then, pull out a small roof on any face of this main roof, as illustrated in the image below.
To connect or disconnect the roofs, start by selecting the small roof, then click on the corresponding face of the larger roof to establish the connection, as shown here:
Next, try dragging the small roof so that its offset is less than the bottom edge of the large roof. You will notice that the small roof will pop up and fail to connect. A dialog box will appear, indicating the issue.
Here is the explanation:
The starting point of the small roof you initially created does not adjust when you attempt to connect it to the large roof. This means that if you drag the small roof back, it returns to a position where its starting point is still ahead, making a proper connection impossible.
The correct method is to drag the small roof inside the boundary of the large roof first, and then connect them. The image below demonstrates this approach.
