Using Wall Decorative Strips to Create Parapets in Revit
Today, let’s explore a quick method to generate parapets using the wall decorative strip tool in Revit.
1. Start a new project by selecting the Revit “Metric Template”. Draw the outline of the parapet wall as shown in the image below, and set the contour purpose to Wall Decorative Strip in the properties bar. Save this family file to a designated folder, such as your desktop.
Next, open any project file and activate the Wall Decorative Strip command. In the pop-up Type Properties dialog, change the family type to the parapet wall family you created earlier. Then, in 3D view, click at the top of the wall to place the parapet, as illustrated below.
The placement result should look like this:
When inspecting the model, you may notice some misalignment or height offset between the placed parapet and the wall. At this stage, measure according to your project requirements and adjust the parapet’s position accordingly.
Use the Offset setting to fine-tune the parapet’s placement relative to the wall. For example, setting the offset value to -150 will move the parapet inward, while a positive value shifts it outward, as shown in the image below.
Here is the final result after adjustment:
