How to Draw a Single-Line Pipeline Diagram with a Right Angle Elbow in Revit

In Revit Electromechanical, pipeline drawings often use a single-line representation for pipes with a diameter of DN50 or less due to scale limitations. Typically, fittings like bends and tees are not drawn in detail; instead, pipeline turns are shown as right angles. However, when using Revit’s default templates, pipe bends appear as arcs by default.

This guide explains how to create a single-line pipeline with right angle elbows in Revit:

  1. Set the view’s detail level to either Coarse or Medium, as illustrated below.

  1. Once the detail level is set to Coarse, pipe bends will display as arcs. To change this, open System in the Mechanical Settings tab.
  2. Enable the option Use annotation scale for single line fittings and set the Pipe fitting annotation size to 0.1 mm.

After applying these settings, the bends will appear as right angles, as shown in the image below:
