How to Draw Diagonal Tees in Revit
When working with Revit software during pipeline adjustments, space constraints often prevent vertical tees from being connected vertically. In such cases, it is recommended to rotate the tees and connect them to horizontal pipe segments, which reduces the required vertical clearance.
The process is outlined below:
1. Remove the vertical pipe segment from the original connection, keeping only the horizontal pipe segment and the tee, as shown in the figure below:
2. Switch from a 3D view to a plan view, then create a section perpendicular to the horizontal pipeline where the tee is located (shortcut key pm).
3. Right-click on the selected section and choose Go to View in the pop-up menu.
If only lines are visible after switching views, adjust the following settings: at the bottom of the screen, set Detail Level to Fine, and change the View Style to Shaded or Color Fill for better visibility.
4. In the section view, select the tee, then go to the Modify tab and click on the Rotate command.
Starting from the vertical orientation, click to set the rotation point, then slide the mouse toward the horizontal pipe segment you want to connect. Enter the desired rotation angle—for example, 45 degrees.
5. Still in the section view, select the tee, then right-click on the + sign on the tee and choose Draw Pipe.
6. Draw the diagonal pipe segment and connect it to the horizontal pipe segment. You can then switch back to a 3D view (shortcut key WT) to see the diagonal tee properly drawn.
