Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Bathroom Model in Revit

How to Create a Bathroom Model File in Revit

Revit bathroom modeling involves multiple disciplines. Using a test example, we will guide you through modeling a simple bathroom.

Begin by designing the room’s water supply and drainage systems. Create a new project following the project requirements, then draw the model based on the walls, doors, and bathroom fixtures provided in the drawings.

1. Start a new project and select the project template; choose the Mechanical sample template, as shown in the image.

2. Draw a grid as illustrated in the following figure.

3. Label the dimensions as indicated in the diagram.

4. Draw the walls, including both exterior and interior walls, with thicknesses of 200mm, 100mm, and 50mm respectively. Set the wall height limit to 3800mm, as shown in the figure.

5. Place the doors by loading the “Single Fan – aligned with wall 0762 × 2032mm” family. Position the doors according to the specified sizes in the drawing.

6. Arrange the bathroom fixtures, including urinals, washbasins, and toilets, in the designated spots as shown in the diagram.

7. Model the risers for water supply pipes, ventilation pipes, and drainage pipes. First, create customized systems for each pipeline type, adjusting color, material, and naming settings. These include the water supply system, ventilation system, and drainage system.

8. Navigate to System > Piping > Pipe Type and draw three different pipelines with a diameter of DN125 each.

9. Independently design the bathroom’s water supply and drainage routes. Set the drainage pipe slope to 8% as per exam requirements. The water supply pipe height is set at 3100mm, while the drainage pipe height is set at -1000mm. The diameters of the water supply pipes connected to the washbasin, urinal, and toilet are DN20, DN15, and DN15, respectively. The main pipe diameter is DN25. Drainage pipes connected to the washbasin, urinal, and toilet have diameters of DN40, DN40, and DN100, respectively.

Select the appropriate tools and equipment to assemble the piping system.

Add the selected tools and equipment into the system to complete the editing process.

Configure settings within the system browser.

Use the Generate Layout feature for pipe routing.

Choose from three layout options to find the design that best fits your needs. Set the modification benchmark to DN32, and finally click Complete Layout.
