How to Use Revit to Apply Filters Within a Single Project

Using Revit to Apply Filters Across Views Within the Same Project

When working with Revit to design projects, we often set up various filters tailored to our specific needs. However, switching between views can require resetting the fill colors for each filter, which can be quite inconvenient.

To avoid this, you can transfer the current filter settings using a view template. For example, if you have a filter configured in a 3D view that you want to apply to Level 2, you should create a view template based on your current view and give it a clear, easily recognizable name.

Next, select the view template in the Properties palette, set the filter override to “All,” and then choose the filter you just created (in this example, it is set to “1”).

The Importance of Filters in a Project:

Within the same project, when you develop the necessary filters in an elevation view, you often need to use those same filters in 3D views. Using view templates to transfer these filters helps you avoid the repetitive task of manually adding fill styles and colors to each filter across multiple views.
