Using Truncation and Moving View Areas in Revit Views
In Revit, you can use the View Truncation and Move View Area tools to split a view into multiple sections and reduce the distance between them. This is especially useful when a view contains many repeated components that make it excessively long. Rather than displaying all duplicates, you can shorten a long view to a more manageable length and place it on your drawing.
Let’s illustrate this with a cross-sectional diagram as an example:
First, check the Crop View and Crop Region Visible options in the properties bar to ensure they are enabled.
Next, open the section view and click the dashed line below the section box to activate Vertical View Truncation.
This action divides the view into two parts, hiding the middle section.
You can then adjust the size of each section box by dragging the circular handles located in the middle of the section box.
To move an individual section box, drag the double-arrow handles found in the middle of the section box.
By doing this, the distance between the two cross-sectional views is shortened.
Finally, drag one of the circular handles to another area to merge the view back into a complete sectional view.
